Water Conservation Infrastructure Improvement Projects
The City has initiated two infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing our water utilization efficiency while simultaneously reducing water loss caused by leaks and undetected issues.
Funding for both projects listed below comes in part from a grant authorized through the Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Grant Program and administered by the State of California Department of Water Resources.
Component Analysis
A real loss component analysis (RLCA) aims to summarize the rate of leakage quantified through an AWWA water audit in meaningful categories (components) that help identify optimum strategies to reduce loss. The financial value of recovered water can be balanced with the cost of recovery to highlight opportunities for leakage management.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure
The City of Sonoma is soliciting proposals for an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) complete solution in order to improve the process of collecting water meter data, reduce unaccounted for non-revenue water and to enhance the level of service offered to its customers.
It is the goal of the City of Sonoma (City) to provide its customers with reliable, safe water at an equitable price, and to ensure the fiscal and environmental vitality of the City for future generations. The City expects that the AMI system will serve as a vital tool for achieving its goal as it moves forward.
