Volunteer Firefighters set up Donation Fund

Posted on November 3, 2017

Local firefighting organizations have been approached by community members wanting to make financial donations in the wake of the recent fires.  In response, the Board of Directors of the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighter’s Association (SVFA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has established two funds for community contributions.  The following is from a letter they have provided:

“This letter provides information regarding how donations may be received from the community.  The Board of Directors of the Volunteer Association voted to create two separate funds for accepting donations.  The first is titled Fire Relief Fund.  Donations made to this fund will be fully allocated to First Responders in our area that were affected by the fires.  The second account is titled Projects Fund.  Donations to this fund will go toward firefighter training, purchase of equipment and supplies to benefit the SVFRA. Donation checks should be made out to “Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters’ Association.”

The Volunteer Association leaves the decision to you, as to which fund you would like your generous donation to go toward.  Should neither of these funds be something you are interested in donating to, there are many other worthy organizations accepting fire relief donations; one example being the Redwood Credit Union’s 2017 North Bay Fire Relief fund.

On behalf of the SVFRA, the Union, and the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters’ Association, we thank you for your support.”

The address for the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters’ Association is 630 Second St. West, Sonoma 95476.
