Two new apartment projects in Sonoma took a step forward last week, with use permits approved by the Planning Commission. When completed, these projects will add a total of 54 affordable rental units and 24 market rate rental units to Sonoma’s housing stock.
The Altamira Apartments on Broadway is a 48-unit affordable housing project that in addition to the manager’s unit, will provide 15 units at the extremely low income level, 23 units at the very low income level, and 9 units at the low income level. The Oliva Apartments on West Spain St. will have 30 units, of which 24 will be market rate and 6 will meet affordable housing criteria.
Next steps for these projects include design review by the Design Review & Historic Preservation Committee, submittal of civil improvement plans and building permit applications for review and approval by City departments and other agencies, then issuance of permits for construction.
