The Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce and City of Sonoma are pleased to announce that The Epicurean Connection is this year’s Earth Day Sustainable Business Honoree!
Located at 19670 8th Street E. Suite A in Sonoma Valley, The Epicurean Connection was founded by Sheana Davis who believes sustainability, locally sourced food, and simple ingredients matter. Together with her partner Ben Sessions and their Staff, the Epicurean Connection provides hands-on cooking classes, team-building experiences, catering, private cooking parties, and makes a number of small-batch award-winning cheeses.
Sonoma Mayor Sandra Lowe and Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Mark Bodenhamer presented Sheana Davis and Ben Sessions a Certificate of Recognition for the Epicurean Connection’s stewardship of the environment through their sustainable business practices including thier intentional efforts to source local ingredients, conserve water, become energy efficient, seek alternative transportation options for employees and clients, and especially thier significant commitment to being a zero-waste business.
When asked what sustainable practices they were most proud of, Sheana Davis shared, “Zero-food waste. We pack and donate our extra food to Farm to Pantry to share with food-insecure seniors in the community. We donate on average 50 meals per week and share our food waste with a local pig and a herd of sheep. We average 100 pounds a week of food waste to the animals, which equals zero landfill.”
The Epicurean Connection warehouse is open 9 am-12 pm each Friday and Saturday.
