The City of Sonoma’s AMI project to replace all water meters begins next week. The first phase of this project will start on April 17th, where the city’s contractor (Concord Utilities Services) will begin inspecting all existing water meter utility boxes to assess their condition and gather other information that will be used to plan and help expedite the replacement of all water meters which is scheduled to begin in June.
This first phase involves only a visual inspection of the existing water meter, and customers’ water service will not be shut off. Contractor employees and vehicles will be marked with the Concord Utility Services company name and logo. For water meter boxes located behind locked gates or other unusual access conditions, City staff will accompany the contractor and/or contact those specific utility customers in advance to arrange access.
