Did you know a silent toilet leak could be wasting hundreds of gallons of water per day—without you even noticing? The City of Sonoma, in partnership with the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership, invites you to take the Dye Tab Challenge and find out if your toilet is secretly costing you money!
Why It Matters:
Toilet leaks are the #1 cause of high water bills, and even small leaks can add up fast. Fixing them is simple—but first, you need to find them!
How to Participate
✔ Pick up FREE dye tabs at Sonoma City Hall, No. 1 The Plaza, during business hours (Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Fridays by appointment) or use a few drops of food coloring.
✔ Drop the dye into your toilet tank (don’t flush!).
✔ Wait 15 minutes and check the bowl.
✔ If the water changes color, you have a leak—but don’t worry, fixing it is usually as easy as replacing a flapper!
✔ Report your results at savingwaterpartnership.org/challenge by March 31, 2025, and you’ll be entered to win a $25 gift card!
