Did you know a silent toilet leak could be wasting hundreds of gallons of water per day—without you even noticing? The City of Sonoma, in partnership with the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership, invites you to take the Dye Tab Challenge and find out if your toilet is secretly costing you money!

Why It Matters:
Toilet leaks are the #1 cause of high water bills, and even small leaks can add up fast. Fixing them is simple—but first, you need to find them!

How to Participate

Pick up FREE dye tabs at Sonoma City Hall, No. 1 The Plaza, during business hours (Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Fridays by appointment) or use a few drops of food coloring.
Drop the dye into your toilet tank (don’t flush!).
Wait 15 minutes and check the bowl.
✔ If the water changes color, you have a leak—but don’t worry, fixing it is usually as easy as replacing a flapper!
Report your results at savingwaterpartnership.org/challenge by March 31, 2025, and you’ll be entered to win a $25 gift card!
