The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Bay Area, including Sonoma, Tuesday afternoon – Thursday afternoon and a High Wind Watch from 7:00 PM Tuesday – 10:00 AM Wednesday due to an incoming atmospheric weather event. The moderate atmospheric river is expected to bring prolonged periods of moderate to heavy rain along with gusty south winds. The brunt of the storm is forecast to occur between Tuesday evening through Wednesday.
If your property has a history of flooding, please don’t wait for the storm to arrive to prepare sandbags.
Free sandbags are now available to City residents by appointment. Bag pick-up may be scheduled at City Hall Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 AM to Noon and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Call (707) 938-3681 for an appointment, limit 10 bags per resident while supplies last. Additional bags are available for purchase at Friedman’s Home Improvement Center (1360 Broadway).
Free sand is available to City residents in the parking lot at Depot Park (270 1st ST W). The sandbag filling station at Depot Park is self-serve; please bring your own shovel. Read our Sandbag Instructions to learn how to properly fill, stack, and construct sandbags.
