The Sonoma Valley Community Advisory Commission (SVCAC) plays a vital role in shaping the future of our beloved Sonoma Valley. Established through a Joint Powers Agreement between the County of Sonoma and the City of Sonoma, the SVCAC serves as a forum for public discussion on planning decisions affecting both the City and the surrounding unincorporated areas. With a commitment to community engagement, the commission addresses key issues, evaluates potential solutions, and provides invaluable recommendations to elected officials and decision-makers.
About the SVCAC
The SVCAC consists of eleven commissioners, three alternates, and two non-voting Emeritus commissioners, along with three ex-Officio members. The commission provides a structured platform for residents to engage in public policy discussions and share their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing the Sonoma Valley. This engagement is essential for fostering effective communication between government agencies and the community.
The SVCAC meets regularly on the fourth Wednesday of most months at 6:30 p.m. in the City of Sonoma Council Chambers located at 177 First Street West, Sonoma. These meetings, which are supported by the dedicated staff from Supervisor Gorin’s office, are a chance for residents to participate in shaping the policies that impact their lives.
