Recreation & Community Service Partnerships
Core Service Providers
Under its Recreation & Community Services Program policy, the City of Sonoma contracts with four non-profit organizations to deliver core recreation and community services. These local providers are expert at delivering some of the services typically provided by city governments elsewhere.
Partnering with the City, the Boys & Girls Club provides youth programming; the Sonoma Community Center provides arts, cultural and educational opportunities; our friends at the Sonoma Ecology Center are stewards of Sonoma Valley's natural heritage and create measurable benefits in areas of land, water climate change and biodiversity; and Vintage House Sonoma provides senior services.
Additional Partnerships
The City has additional recreation and community service partnerships that are not part of the Community Fund Program but receive financial support. The City has an agreement with the Sebastiani Theatre Foundation to support the renovation and programming of the historic theatre that provides the community with cultural arts and youth programs; is supporting the Sonoma Valley Health and Recreation Association swimming pool initiative so that residents may be provided free and reduced-fee services; has an agreement with Sonoma Valley Field of Dreams (no website available) to operate and maintain playfields and turf areas; and an agreement with the Sonoma Overnight Support (SOS) that operates "The Haven" homeless services in a building owned by the City of Sonoma.
