Pre-Reviewed ADU Plans Program
The City of Sonoma is pleased to announce the launch of its Pre-Reviewed ADU Plans Program! This program allows designers to submit ADU plans for pre-approval for compliance with the CA Building Code, and property owners to utilize these plans to reduce plan check timelines and construction costs. The program helps the City meet the goal of creating diverse housing options throughout Sonoma by encouraging ADU construction.
For Designers
Submit a completed Pre-Approved ADU Plans Checklist with a Building Permit to add your ADU plans to the program. Please note that plan check fees will apply, and an initial deposit will be needed to begin the plan check.
Please note, City of Sonoma is part of a Countywide collaborative of multiple jurisdictions. Submitting to one jurisdiction for plan review may allow the plan set to be utilized in multiple Sonoma County jurisdictions. Inquire with Planning staff for more details on how to best implement this option.
For Property Owners
The following list of ADU plans have been pre-reviewed by the City and can be used by contacting the representative listed next to each plan. Please note that each design firm will have their own fees associated with the use of their ADU plans; however, use of these plans should result in a reduced plan check fee. As new plans are submitted to the program, they will be added to the list. Site specific engineering and soils analysis will likely be required to supplement the information provided with a pre-reviewed ADU pan set.
