At the Special City Council meeting on May 30, 2018, the City Council provided direction to staff regarding the development of permanent cannabis regulations, including: allowing the outdoor personal cultivation of three (3) plants with parameters; allowing medicinal cannabis deliveries from licensed dispensaries located outside of City limits; and prohibiting a medicinal dispensary, testing facilities and manufacturing facilities within the City limits.
These options have been researched and the permanent ordinance for cannabis regulations, including personal use and commercial, will return to the City Council for possible action/implementation. The schedule for the ordinance is as follows:
- September 13, 2018, 6:30 p.m. – Planning Commission Meeting, review of ordinance and make recommendation to Council. See the agenda and staff report.
- September 24, 2018 – City Council Meeting, Public Hearing and first reading of ordinance
- October 1, 2018 – City Council Meeting, second reading of ordinance
- Ordinance to be effective 30 days after second reading on October 1, 2018
The meetings will be held at City Council Chambers at 177 First St. West and can also be viewed on channel 27 or on the City’s CivicWeb portal.
