Building Inspector I/II
Salary Range:
- Building Inspector I: $7,173.98 to $8,720.01 per month
- Building Inspector II: $7,888.43 to $9,588.44 per month
The City of Sonoma is seeking a Building Inspector to join our Community Development Department, reporting to the Chief Building Official. In this role, you will inspect residential, commercial, and industrial buildings at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair, and assist in reviewing building plans, processing permits, and enforcing construction codes. The Building Inspector performs a wide range of combination inspections, including building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, grading, CALGreen, flood hazard, and accessibility. This recruitment aims to fill an immediate opening, and an eligible list will be established and maintained for a minimum of one year.
The City’s Building Division, staffed by the Chief Building Official, a Building Inspector, and a Permit Technician, is dedicated to providing progressive permit services. Our team oversees projects spanning commercial, public, and residential construction typical of a small community.
