The City of Sonoma has a rare opportunity to request that Caltrans restripe Broadway to enhance the pedestrian and bicycle experience between MacArthur Street and Napa Street. The restriping could integrate bike lanes on Broadway while keeping existing parking, landscaping and intersection operations.
Public Works Director and City Engineer, Colleen Ferguson presented three road restriping options being considered for Broadway between MacArthur Street and Napa Street to City Council at their meeting on Monday, March 2nd. View a recording of the workshop (item begins at 1:33) to learn more.
The potential enhancements would leverage Caltrans’ Pavement Rehabilitation of State Route 12, planned for Summer 2020/21. The Caltrans project will improve pavement condition from approximately Boyes Boulevard to Napa Road-Leveroni Road, through the City of Sonoma. Broadway is Sonoma’s “Main Street” and your input is integral to City Council’s recommendations to the Caltrans for the striping of traffic and bike lanes.
The City has developed a 15-minute survey to receive community input and feedback about the three potential restriping options beginning Friday, March 6th through Friday, March 27. Once the survey results have been received, the City Council will decide on the preferred restriping option at their April 6th meeting and the restriping recommendation will be sent to CalTrans for their consideration.
