Student Creative Artist Award Entry Form 2025
The Creative Student Artist Award recognizes outstanding high school juniors and seniors in Sonoma Valley for their artistic ability, dedication, and creative expression. Awards are given in multiple disciplines, and work will be judged by the Cultural and Fine Arts Commission based on specific rubrics which are found below.
To be considered, you must reside within the boundaries of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District and be available for an in-person interview on one of two dates: April 15 or April 22 in the evening.
Submission Guidelines:
- Each artist may submit one (1) entry per discipline. If applying in multiple disciplines, you must complete a separate entry form for each.
- All submissions must be original work. If submitting a collaborative piece, please indicate this in the form and describe your role in your artist statement.
Application Checklist:
- Visual Art: Submit five (5) images of original artwork (jpeg format).
- Dance and Music: Submit one YouTube video links (unedited, 1.5 – 5 minutes in length).
- Theater: Submit two (2) YouTube video links (unedited, 1.5 – 5 minutes in length).
- Video/Multimedia: Submit one (1) YouTube video link (max 3 minutes).
- Creative Writing & Poetry/Songwriting: Submit one (1) written piece (up to 500 words, PDF format).
- Artist Statement (250-500 words): Describe what motivates your art, the intent behind your submission, and how it reflects your creative voice.
Video Recording Tips (For Dance, Music, and Theater Submissions):
- Use a neutral, well-lit background to keep the focus on your performance.
- Keep the camera in a fixed position with a full-body frame when necessary.
- Audio should be clear—avoid echoes and background noise.
- Limit props to one stool, two chairs, and one table if needed.
