Commercial Composting Program
Sonoma's successful composting program for commercial food scraps takes a major contributor to the waste stream and recycles it back into productive use. The pilot program, a joint effort of Sonoma Garbage Collectors, Sonoma Compost, and the City of Sonoma, turns waste from local restaurants and commercial kitchens into high quality organic soil amendments, which are then used in local gardens, farms, and vineyards. About two-thirds of commercial kitchens in the City currently participate. Details can be found in the video. Businesses interested in joining the program can contact John Currotto at Sonoma Garbage, (707) 996-7555.
