In an ongoing effort to enhance support to our local organizations providing critical and essential programs and services to our community in a transparent and fair manner, the City of Sonoma is excited to announce the second year of its online Discretionary Funding Application. This platform streamlines the process for organizations seeking funding from the Council Discretionary Use Funding within the Recreation and Community Services Program. It offers a clear, digital avenue for non-profit and tax-exempt organizations to apply for financial support for civic and arts projects or programs, ensuring a fair and accountable process.
Aligned with the City Council’s goal to strengthen support for non-profit organizations and develop more recreational opportunities, this funding initiative underscores the City’s commitment to supporting community-driven efforts. The program aims to foster creative, innovative solutions, promote community connections through events and programs, reach grassroots groups making a positive impact, and build partnerships that enhance the quality of life for all Sonoma Valley residents.
Organizations may request up to a maximum of $3,000 for one project or program per fiscal year, subject to City Council approval. The total number of funded projects will depend on available funding, which is determined during the City’s budget development and adoption process.
The deadline to apply for discretionary funding for the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 is May 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Detailed criteria, limitations, and the application portal are available on the City’s dedicated webpage at: www.sonomacity.org/discretionary-funding-request-application/.
