The City of Sonoma has set a challenging goal of reaching “net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.” The Climate Action Commission has been working closely with city staff to prepare the Draft Climate Action Strategies, setting out a range of feasible measures designed to accomplish this objective.
The Draft Climate Action Strategies document, which can be accessed [here], is now open for public review and feedback until October 20, 2023. Following this public input phase, the document will be reviewed by the Commission before proceeding to the City Council for consideration.
The public is invited to attend a Community Meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 177 First Street West, Sonoma. This will be a “hybrid meeting” in that those interested in participating can do so in person or virtually on Zoom. During this event, attendees will receive an overview of the proposed strategies, gain insight into the process, and have the opportunity to voice their thoughts and suggestions.
The public is invited to actively participate in shaping these vital climate action strategies. Whether attending the Community Meeting or providing written feedback, every contribution counts towards Sonoma’s commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
