The City of Sonoma is in the process of transitioning from “at large” elections to district-based elections, which will change how City Council members are elected by establishing distinct geographic districts. As part of this process, the City Council is reviewing draft district maps and gathering public input to determine the final boundaries before adopting a new election system.
At the fourth public hearing on March 19, 2025, the Sonoma City Council reviewed Draft Map B & B2 and made further adjustments to the district boundaries based on Council direction.
Following this discussion, the Council directed staff and Redistricting Partners to bring back a new Draft Map B3 for final consideration. Draft Map B3 includes revisions to the boundaries between District 4 and District 5, resulting in adjustments in each district, reflecting additional adjustments to better align with community feedback and Council requests.
Next Steps & Public Engagement
The City Council will review Draft Map B3 at the final public hearing during their regular meeting on April 2, 2025, when they are expected to select a final district map.
Community members are encouraged to participate by reviewing Draft Map B3 and submitting feedback.
