City Clerk Rebekah Barr, MMC
Ms. Barr brings a wealth of experience in municipal government, spanning 25 years. Her expertise encompasses various roles, including City Clerk, with additional experience in risk management and human resources. Beginning her municipal career in the City of Chowchilla, Rebekah performed diverse duties in the City Manager's Office, holding titles such as Acting City Clerk, Deputy City Clerk, Drug and Alcohol Program Manager, and Executive Assistant to the City Administrator.
Before assuming the role of Sonoma City Clerk in August 2016, Rebekah served as the City Clerk for the City of American Canyon. Beyond municipal roles, she worked as an Account Executive for a company specializing in Agenda, Records, and Video Streaming/Archiving solutions, managing relationships with local governments.
Rebekah attended Merced College and Ashford University. She is a proud member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and was awarded the certification of Master Municipal Clerk in 2011. She completed the Leadership and Professional Development Program from Continuing Education for Public Officials, becoming a Certified Trainer in their Training of Trainers Program in 2007. Rebekah contributed as a Trainer at CCAC's Nuts & Bolts, mentoring and training individuals new to the clerk profession.
As a member of the City Clerks Association of California, Rebekah served on the Board of Directors and as Past President. Her active involvement in the League of California Cities included membership in the Administrative Services Policy Committee from 2008 - 2014.
Fulfilling her commitment to community service, Rebekah served as a board member for NEWS, a domestic violence and sexual abuse services provider in Napa from 2011-2015. Originally from Chowchilla, she moved to Napa in 2010.
Outside her professional life, Rebekah finds joy in cake decorating, indulging her passion for creating visually stunning confections. An avid reader, she draws solace and inspiration from books. Traveling and exploring new places to gain diverse perspectives are additional passions.
Above all, Rebekah cherishes spending quality time with her husband Derek and their family, expressing that of all the titles she has held, "Grandma" is her favorite.
