Sonoma and Napa counties, in partnership with local law enforcement and fire agencies, will conduct a targeted emergency alert and warning system test on Thursday, March 27, 2025. This test will focus on the SON-6F4 evacuation zone, located in Sonoma Valley near the Sonoma-Napa County line.

Between 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., residents and visitors in this area may receive a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) on their mobile devices. This is only a test of the alert system and is not an evacuation or emergency.

The SON-6F4 zone includes approximately 400 residents, and some individuals may receive the alert more than once. To check if you are located within this zone, use the Know Your Zone tool or call 2-1-1 for assistance.

WEA messages are issued by federal authorities and function similarly to Amber Alerts, delivering a short text notification to cell phones in a specific geographic area. Please ensure your phone’s sound is on and avoid “airplane mode” or “do not disturb” settings during the test period, as these may block the alert.

This annual drill helps emergency officials verify the system’s effectiveness and reinforces community preparedness. No registration is required to receive a WEA alert.

Reminder: If severe weather is forecast on March 27, the test will be postponed.
